Meet Acmena’s newest consultants – Wilson Law and Yangyang Li.
Following in the footsteps of Acmena’s original intern, Senior Consultant Jordan Wong, Wilson and Yangyang are two highly promising graduates of our successful internship program.
Joining the company at the end of 2022 while he was completing a degree in electrical engineering at The University of Queensland, Wilson was initially brought on board to assist with Acmena’s internal Realtics project to explore the use of AI and Large Language Models to streamline systems engineering and assurance processes.
He would go on to support the Cross River Rail team, where he is currently assisting with various systems engineering, requirements management and verification and validation activities.
“My journey at Acmena has been an incredibly rewarding experience,” said Wilson. “So far, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of tools and tasks, such as developing a custom-trained AI for systems engineering-specific work, macro development for document and data handling, and requirements management using IBM DOORS.
“Simultaneously, I have also had access to a highly skilled and supportive team who have helped me understand complex tasks and helped grow my skillset. I’m excited to continue contributing to exciting projects from the ground up, helping achieve their goals whilst prioritising safety and budget. The people here are not only some of the brightest, but also genuinely some of the kindest individuals I’ve had the privilege of working with.”
Like Wilson, Yangyang joined Acmena’s Brisbane office in 2022 while he was completing a degree in electrical and computer engineering at The University of Queensland. He would also join the Cross River Rail team, where he gained valuable experience in assisting with various systems engineering and assurance activities.
“I am very excited to join Acmena full-time after completing my degree and internship side-by-side,” said Yangyang. “The experience I gained from my internship was very valuable and set me up for a smooth transition into the full-time role.
“I am looking forward to learning more from the experienced people around me and contributing to a wide range of projects.”
Delighted to see the two progress through the ranks to full-time consultants, Acmena General Manager, Mike Bruce, said:
“Having the opportunity to work with up-and-coming engineers and help them develop their careers is really rewarding. Both Wilson and Yangyang have proved themselves to be very capable, diligent and hardworking engineers, and I am absolutely delighted to welcome them both to the team as full-time consultants. Congratulations to both on their well-deserved promotions.”
